My dad grew up in the South Georgia during Depression. I love cracker pie!

My mom made Vinegar Pie and it was good. May not like it now. It's been a long time!

Pat, I cannot imagine what it was like in that time. My grandfather was a doctor and so was able to have a vehicle so he could make house calls. His patients paid him in eggs, cream and butter😊

Everyone did what they could to help each other!

I hope we never have to know what this was like. My Dad told me the story of the thief who came into his dorm room at State and stole the peanut butter. He knew this had to be a starving man who would do this. Once he found out who it was, he got more peanut butter and invited him to join him for peanut butter and mayonnaise sandwiches. I believe they became good friends.

Peanut butter and mayonnaise sandwiches were a staple in my household growing up, my dad used to make them on toast and often. While I was raised in the south, my dad was raised in the Midwest. Thank you for writing this piece it brought me right back to the family kitchen table with my dad and peanut butter and mayonnaise sandwiches. Fond memories!
